Freightliner campaign no fl-0028.tractor.possibility that the suspensionbeam hanger brackets on the tandem rear axles may develop cracks after 200,000milesof over-the-road service.if this condition exists it can eventuallycause the brackets to fail and can result in loss of vehicle control.thisrecall supplements 71-0071 initiated on april 23, 1971 for the same defect.(correct by inspecting and replacing brackets where necessary).

Possibility that special pitman arm with slightly larger serrated hole than standard pitman arm was inadvertently installed on subject vehicles.in case of an over-toleranced hole combined with an under-toleranced steering sector shaft, arm would not be tightened onto taper before nut bottomed out, thus leaving arm loose on serrations.before failure occurs, extreme looseness in steering will be observed by driver.(correct by inspection and installation of correct arm.)
