Defect:

Certain zf servocom s2 steering gears, type 8018, sold for installation as original equipment on certain heavy duty vehicles. a spacer with the wrong dimensions has been fitted in the assembly possibly causing loss of steering control.

Consequence:

Loss of steering control can result in a vehicle crash.

Correction:

Each vehicle manufacturer will notify its owners and provide a remedy program. the recall began on may 25, 2007. owners should contact their vehicle manufacturer for further information.
