Defect:

Hidplus, hidplus ii, and raybrig ss5000 headlight conversion kits. these lighting sources do not conform the electrical specifications that are required by federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

Consequence:

These lights produce excessive glare to oncoming traffic.

Correction:

Spw will repurchase the noncompliant kits. owner notification began february 9, 2004. owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact spw at 323-268-8382.
