Defect:: Silverstone associates llc (silverstone) is recalling certain ride eazy dot sleek helmets, sizes m and xl. these helmets may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a head impact during a motorcycle crash. as such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 218, "motorcycle helmets."
Consequence:: A helmet that does not adequately protect the wearer from an impact can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Correction:: Silverstone will notify owners, and provide replacement helmets, free of charge. the recall is expected to begin december 7, 2018. owners may contact silverstone customer service at 1-410-696-7180.
