Defect:
Detroit diesel series 40 turbochargers manufactured from january 1, 1997 through august 4, 2002. the turbocharger can fail, allowing lubricating oil to spill onto the engine.
Consequence:
this can result in a fire in the engine compartment, possibly resulting in personal injury.
Correction:
Detroit diesel will notify its customers and inspect and replace the turbocharger free of charge. the recall began september 17, 2004. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact ddc at 313-592-3708.

New clor hid kits for use on passenger vehicles. the lamps in these kits do not comply with the electrical and dementional requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
Consequence:
Lamps may produce excess glare to oncoming traffic.
Correction:
New clor will notify its customers and wil repurchase or offer a refund for the noncompliant hid kits. the recall began august 27, 2004. owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact new clor at 818-363-5392.
