Defect:: Meritor is recalling certain rear drive axles and front non drive steer axles produced from july 25, 2011, through september 9, 2011, sold and installed as original equipment to hino motors manufacturing. certain suspect axles with wheel ends may have improperly assembled fastening hardware or nut locking features.
Consequence:: This condition could result in wheel separation, which could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Correction:: Meritor is working with hino motors to identify and notify owners. the safety recall began on december 14, 2011. owners may contact meritor at 1-800-535-5560 or hino motors.
