Defect:

Mt-10 and mt-11 steer drive axles manufactured from january 1990 to august 31, 2002. the left hand steering knuckle can develop a crack.

Consequence:

This could eventually result in a fracture of the knuckle and a loss of steering control, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

Correction:

Marmon-herrington will notify its customers to have the axles inspected and repaired free of charge. owner notification is expected to begin during september/october 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact marmon-herrington at 502-253-0277.
