Defect:

Hendrickson usa. l.l.c. (hendrickson) is recalling certain bridge axles, part number b5r13x-04b, manufactured december 7, 2015, to january 11, 2016. the affected bridge axles have tube sleeves that may crack along the seam welds.

Consequence:

If one tube sleeve cracks, vehicle handling may be affected. if both tube sleeves crack, the bridge axle may detach from the vehicle. either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Correction:

Hendrickson notified the one vehicle manufacturer that purchased the affected axles on may 24, 2016. that manufacturer is replacing the axles under recall 16v-421, free of charge. the recall began on may 16, 2016. owners may contact hendrickson customer service at 1-630-773-9111. hendrickson's number for this recall is tb-h801.
