Defect:

Certain britax decathlon child restraint systems, model e9l47, manufactured from february 12, 2005, through july 31, 2007. the harness adjuster housing can pop out of position which makes it difficult to adjust the harness to fit snuggly around the child.

Consequence:

In the event of a vehicle crash, a loose harness around the child could increase the risk of injury.

Correction:

Britax will notify registered owners and provide a repair kit free of charge. repair kits will be available by august 17, 2007. owners can contact britax at 1-800-683-2045 or visit their website at www.britaxusa.com.
