- Defect:
- Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 c 600 sport scooters manufactured august 2, 2012, to march 31, 2014, and c 650 gt scooters manufactured july 30, 2012, to may 29, 2015. the front brake hoses on the affected scooters may kink and crack after turning the handlebars to the full left position repeatedly.
- Consequence:
- If the front brake hose cracks it would leak brake fluid, reducing braking performance, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. however, the rear brake remains fully operational.
- Correction:
- Bmw will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hose with one that has a more flexible hose covering, free of charge. parts are not currently available to remedy the scooters, but owners were mailed an interim notification on december 28, 2015. a second notice will be sent when remedy parts are available. owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
