Defect:

Car adapter for cyberhome portable dvd player, hsn item #707613 and sold in march 2003. the player may become very hot when used with the rechargeable battery in place.

Consequence:

Using the car adapter with the battery can cause the adapter to overheat and possibly melt, creating a risk of fire if flammable material is nearby.

Correction:

Argus will mail replacement adapters to its customers free of charge. owner notification is expected to begin april 18, 2003. owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact argus electronics at 888-274-8740.
