Vehicle description: heavy duty trucks. the steering gear fasteners were incorrectly tightened and can work loose.

Consequence:

This condition could result in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Correction:

Dealers will remove, degrease, and retorque steering gear mounting bolts.

Notes:

Owner notification began november 27, 2000. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact mack at 1-610-709-3011. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
