Vehicle description: fire trucks equipped with air tank drain heaters. the wiring used in the harness for the air tank drain heater is undersized.
Consequence:
If there is a short in the heater and the circuit breaker does not trip, the harness will overheat.
Correction:
Dealers will replace the harness with one that has larger gauge wires.
Notes:
Owner notification is expected to begin during july 1999.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

Vehicle description: certain fire trucks fail to comply with requirements of fmvss no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages." the forward facing rear seat belt anchorages do not comply.
Consequence:
In the event of a crash, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of injury.
Correction:
Additional reinforcements will be added to the seat belt anchorages.
