- Defect:
- The fuel pump mounting plate does not fully seal the fuel tank allowing fuel leakage onto the engine.
- Consequence:
- If an ignition source is present, fuel leakage onto the engine can result in a fire.
- Correction:
- Dealers will replace the original rubber seal with a revised seal that has metal inserts so the plate cannot be overtorqued and to more evenly spread the load across the face of the seal.
- Notes:
- Owner notification:owner notification began may 10, 1997. note:owners who take their motorcycles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact triumph at 1-678-854-2010.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-800-424-9393.
