Defect:

Vehicle description: truck/trailers. the certification labels installed on these vehicles are incorrect. the gross axle weight rating is too high for the tires that were installed.

Consequence:

The vehicle is too heavy for the tires installed resulting in a tire separation.

Correction:

Dealers will install a corrected certification label on these vehicles.

Notes:

Owner notification began may 14, 1998. owners who take their vehicle to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
