Defect:
A crack occurs outboard of the axle attachment which grows and results in separation of the end of that axle, including tires and wheels, from the trailer.
Consequence:
Axle separation while moving can increase the risk of a vehicle accident.
Correction:
Dealers will inspect the trailers at all 8 welds on the axle to air ride beam connections for visible cracks. if a crack is detected, the trailers will be removed from service and the axles replaced.
