Defect:

The roll pin used to attach the u-joint to the steering shaft can "back out" of its position and shear.

Consequence:

Shearing of the roll pin causes the u-joint/steeringdriveshaft attachment to fail and drop below its normal position, resultingin loss of steering control.

Correction:

A bolt and nut arrangement will be added for protection against the pin failure.
